Our Rosary Garden and the grounds of our church
The Rosary Garden became a reality due to the
dedication of the wonderful OLPH parishioners. It was built with an
all-volunteer crew. It started in response to a tragedy. A car accident claimed
the lives of a mother and her 3 daughters. They were a family that attended OLPH
Parish and often prayed the Rosary together. The parents of the mother (and
grandparents of the daughters) - also members of the OLPH Parish - were lost in
grief and looking for something to help with the healing. An idea began to
develop. Build a Rosary garden in the area that was dried up weeds and grass
between the church and the parish center. Father Steven Ryan agreed with the
idea and the parish council accepted the plan. So the work began. Parish members
were given the opportunity to pay for the different things needed for the garden
by purchasing memorial bricks. Then the work began: finding a company that could
make blue glass “beads”, designing the lay out, picking out the benches,
ordering the decade markers. Many Saturdays were spent preparing the site,
pouring the cement, planting the flowers, putting things in place. All the hard
work has paid off. The garden is beautiful. It is maintained by volunteers.
Donations are always accepted to help cover the cost of watering and maintaining
this beautiful garden. The Rosary is prayed every Sunday at 10:00 AM in the
garden {weather permitting} or in the parish center chapel.
